tert -Butylmagnesium Chloride: Homogeneous Sacrificial Reductant for the Fast Nickel-Catalyzed Cross-Electrophile Coupling of Alkyl and Aryl Iodides
Cross-electrophile coupling under nickel catalysis is a powerful approach for assembling aryl and alkyl electrophiles. Herein, we report that tert -butylmagnesium chloride is an efficient homogeneous reductive reagent for the coupling of aryl and primary or secondary alkyl iodides. The reaction proceeds at room temperature in a nonamide solvent and reaches completion within 1 h. The reaction conditions are mild enough to tolerate ester, amide, carbamate, and sulfonate groups.
