The Dual Role-Play Framework: Enhancing Metacognition and Critical Verification in AI-Assisted Learning
This conceptual paper introduces the "Dual Role-Play Framework," an innovative pedagogical methodology designed to restructure human-AI interaction in education and research. Grounded in cognitive psychology and metacognitive monitoring, the framework addresses key generative AI challenges, including machine sycophancy and overconfidence bias. By systematically shifting the user through three operational perspectives — Student (Preparation), Teacher (Deep Dive), and Critic (Verification) — the framework mitigates algorithmic risks, counters blind trust, and safeguards the cognitive independence and intellectual integrity of students and independent researchers.
