Arthroplasty of the TMJ for Hearing Recovery of EAC Stenosis Due to a 25-Year-Old Mandibular Condyle Fracture Sequelae
Abstract The lack of consensus in the literature on the treatment of mandibular condyle fractures makes the prognosis sometimes unclear. The complex anatomy of the region and the risk of developing complications during the therapeutic course result in intense debate. Complications following condylar fractures can result from incorrect diagnosis or inadequate treatment and can compromise the form and function of the temporomandibular joint. Additionally, condyle fractures can cause damage to the external auditory canal (EAC). This study aims to report a clinical case of 25-year-old mandibular condyle fracture sequelae causing temporomandibular joint (TMJ) deformity, external auditory canal stenosis and hearing loss and the patient’s complete recovery after arthroplasty.
