First-law-type relation of causal diamonds at subhorizon scales: FLRW comoving geodesics
Abstract In an expanding universe, we investigate the thermodynamic properties of causal diamonds anchored to coarse-grained Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) comoving geodesics using an approximate conformal Killing vector (CKV) constructed in Fermi normal coordinates. Geometric departures (area and volume) are uniformly controlled at $$O(\varepsilon _H^2)$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>O</mml:mi> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mi>ε</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msubsup> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> , with $$\varepsilon _H\equiv H\ell /c\ll 1$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>ε</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>≡</mml:mo> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mi>ℓ</mml:mi> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:mi>c</mml:mi> <mml:mo>≪</mml:mo> <mml:mn>1</mml:mn> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> , and boundary shear vanishes at leading order due to conformal flatness. Consequently, we derive an isotropic area–volume relation $$\Delta A / {A_0}-(2/3) \Delta V_\zeta / {V_0}= -(1/5) \varepsilon _H^2 + O(\varepsilon _H^4)$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>A</mml:mi> <mml:mn>0</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:mn>3</mml:mn> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mi>Δ</mml:mi> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>V</mml:mi> <mml:mi>ζ</mml:mi> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>V</mml:mi> <mml:mn>0</mml:mn> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mo>-</mml:mo> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:mn>1</mml:mn> <mml:mo>/</mml:mo> <mml:mn>5</mml:mn> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mi>ε</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msubsup> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:mi>O</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mi>ε</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mn>4</mml:mn> </mml:msubsup> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> . In this adiabatic regime, we obtain a first-law-type relation of causal diamonds for FLRW subhorizon scales, relating the total modular Hamiltonian and the generalized entropy, $$\delta \langle H_\zeta \rangle = \delta S_{\textrm{gen}}\,[1+ O(\varepsilon _H^2)]$$ <mml:math xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"> <mml:mrow> <mml:mi>δ</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>⟨</mml:mo> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mi>ζ</mml:mi> </mml:msub> <mml:mo>⟩</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>=</mml:mo> <mml:mi>δ</mml:mi> <mml:msub> <mml:mi>S</mml:mi> <mml:mtext>gen</mml:mtext> </mml:msub> <mml:mspace/> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>[</mml:mo> <mml:mn>1</mml:mn> <mml:mo>+</mml:mo> <mml:mi>O</mml:mi> <mml:mrow> <mml:mo>(</mml:mo> <mml:msubsup> <mml:mi>ε</mml:mi> <mml:mi>H</mml:mi> <mml:mn>2</mml:mn> </mml:msubsup> <mml:mo>)</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> <mml:mo>]</mml:mo> </mml:mrow> </mml:mrow> </mml:math> .
