Limnological Assessment of Basai Village Johad, Gurugram — A 7-Day Diurnal Field Study (May 2026)

This report presents findings from a self-funded 7-day diurnal limnological field study conducted at Basai Village Johad, Gurugram, Haryana (16–22 May 2026). The study documents physicochemical water quality parameters — pH, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and surface temperature — measured twice daily across three GPS-mapped ecological zones (BJ-A, BJ-B, BJ-C). Key findings include advanced cultural eutrophication, confirmed municipal sewage overflow, recurring fish mortality events across all three zones including Rohu (Labeo rohita) and African Magur (Clarias gariepinus), and evening pH spikes to 9.3 combined with surface temperatures of 32.5°C — conditions consistent with free ammonia toxicity and inferred benthic anoxia. A 20-species avian inventory was compiled alongside documentation of 9 native heritage tree species. The report includes an administrative audit and remediation plan, and has been physically submitted to the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) and Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).
