Dynamic account reference system: An interactive educational tool for introductory financial accounting
This paper introduces the Dynamic Account Reference System (DARS), an interactive educational tool designed to enhance the learning experience for students in introductory financial accounting courses.Footnote1 The tool provides an interactive platform where students can explore accounting accounts, understand their definitions, and view journal entry examples through a user-friendly interface. The tool features a comprehensive database of 30 common accounting accounts across all five major categories (Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenue, and Expenses), each with detailed definitions and transaction scenarios. The use of this tool can significantly improve student engagement and comprehension of foundational accounting concepts.
