The Ruler That Measures Itself — A Popular Introduction to Time Field Theory

This paper systematically elaborates the core philosophical logic and physical connotation of Time Field Theory (TFT). Starting from the paradox of variable measurement benchmarks represented by a rubber ruler and practical cases such as GPS clock calibration, it reveals the circular definition dilemma existing in traditional time measurement. By introducing the analogy of the global monetary system, this work explains the core rule of TFT — flux conservation, whose mathematical form is \nabla \cdot (\gamma \nabla \gamma) = 0. Flux conservation is not an empirical physical law, but a fundamental logical prerequisite for all self-consistent measurements. Based on this rule, the paper deduces the natural emergence of Newtonian gravity, optical propagation rules, the constancy of the speed of light and gravitational waves. It also explains cosmic redshift, cosmic apparent acceleration and galactic rotation curves without introducing dark energy or dark matter. Furthermore, this work establishes the deep connection between TFT and Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorems: as a self-referential system that can only be observed internally, the universe cannot rely on external absolute standards, and internal self-consistency is the only valid criterion. On this basis, it further unifies the logical origins of entropy increase, the arrow of time and causality, proving that all three are inevitable consequences of the self-consistency of self-referential measurement. Time Field Theory regards time as the only self-referential measurement benchmark. The universe is essentially a system that measures itself. All physical laws originate from the self-consistent constraints of the time field, which provides a new fundamental paradigm for understanding physics from the perspective of metrology and epistemology.
