Synthesis, Characterization, and Photocatalytic Performance of Phosphorus-Functionalized Triazatriangulenium Derivatives

Herein, the first one-pot introduction of variable numbers of diphenylphosphoryl (Ph 2 PO) groups into the TATA + framework was achieved via S N Ar. Subsequent reduction and quaternization yielded a series of phosphorus-functionalized TATA + derivatives, whose frontier orbital distributions, energy levels, and photophysical/electrochemical properties were effectively modulated. Notably, [(PMePh 2 ) 3 -TATA][OTf] 4 and [DPPO-TATA][OTf] are efficient catalysts in several oxidative and reductive quenching pathways, respectively, highlighting the potential of these TATA + derivatives as versatile organic photocatalysts.
