Symbolic Capture and Defensive Clarity in Human Psychic Processing
This technical note develops a human-specific account of current symbolic clarity, challenge-conditioned symbolic closure, and defensive clarity within the Human Psychic Processing / Psychological Architecture branch of GTCS. Symbolic capture itself remains independently owned by the prior phenomenological symbolic architecture, while symbolic-regulation applications, symbolic results, and symbolic proposals remain owned by the Human Psychic Processing symbolic-regulation construction. The present paper introduces three downstream qualifications over exact provenance-bearing symbolic records without redefining either source. Current symbolic clarity asks whether an exact symbolic target satisfies a declared evidence-based criterion of formulation determinacy or sufficiency in a specified context. Current symbolic closure asks whether the same target, under an independently established applicable revision or differentiation challenge, satisfies a declared criterion of current closure of further symbolic revision. Defensive clarity is a stronger same-target composite requiring positive clarity, positive challenge-conditioned closure, and an explicit compatibility relation between the two applications. These surfaces remain distinct. Symbolic capture does not imply symbolic clarity, closure, or defensive clarity; positive clarity does not imply closure; and positive closure does not imply clarity. The term defensive is structural rather than functional. A positive defensive-clarity application does not establish adaptive benefit, protection, unconscious defense, avoidance, overload reduction, identity preservation, rigidity, persistence, symbolic stabilization, or structural transformation. Exact records from affect-like modulation, repetition and return, avoidance and displacement, restricted psychic accessibility, overload-linked human processing, significance, identity, coherence, compression, or structural transformation may enter only as independently established and separately aligned evidence. Current closure is not persistence, and repeated positive closure or defensive-clarity applications do not by themselves establish symbolic stabilization or trajectory-dependent regulation. Likewise, changes in clarity or closure do not establish structural updating. The resulting construction therefore provides a provenance-preserving account of current symbolic determinacy and challenge-conditioned closure while keeping symbolic capture, defensive function, persistence, and transformation as separate owner surfaces.
