Rational Design of <scp> BaFeO 3 /rGO </scp> Composite for an Effective and Robust Electrocatalytic <scp>HER</scp> in Alkaline Medium

ABSTRACT Hydrogen energy is considered a highly viable renewable energy source to resolve significant energy concern caused by the limitations of carbon‐based fuels due to its outstanding performance, clean emission, and non‐toxicity byproducts. The development of effective catalysts for producing H 2 from water electrolysis is gaining a lot of interest in an effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. To improve catalyst charge transport capabilities, active sites must be prevented from aggregating during material production. In this present research, we have fabricated the BaFeO 3 nanoparticles embedded on rGO nanosheet using a hydrothermal approach for electrochemical HER in a basic media. Analytical techniques are carried out for physical, morphological, and surface area analysis. The optimized BaFeO 3 /rGO demonstrates efficient HER performance compared to pristine BaFeO 3 , exhibits reduced HER overpotential of 219 mV at −10 mA/cm 2 and a 64 mV/dec Tafel value follows a Volmer‐Heyrovsky mechanism for composite catalyst. Moreover, the electrocatalyst showed a double‐layer capacitance (C dl ) value (4.05 mF/cm 2 ), minor solution resistance (1.23 Ω), and durability over 50 h. Hence, these outcomes present a novel approach for designing efficient HER catalysts by integrating perovskite transition metal oxides with two‐dimensional materials.
