Luminescence Analysis of Dy‐doped YPO 4 Glass Ceramics for Potential Use in Solid‐State Yellow Laser Technology

ABSTRACT Dy 3 + ‐doped yttrium aluminosilicate glasses and YPO 4 glass‐ceramics (GCs) were fabricated via the conventional controlled crystallization method. A systematic characterization was conducted on the heat‐treatment temperature, phase, and micro‐morphology of the GCs. Furthermore, the optical properties of the system were elucidated via quantitative analysis and theoretical fitting based on the fluorescence lifetime decay curves and transmission spectra. The Judd‐Ofelt theory was used for quantitative analysis of the spectroscopic properties of Dy 3 + ions, whose transition probabilities at the 4 F 9 / 2 excited level were measured under 451 nm blue light excitation. At 0.7 mol.% doping, Ω 2 was calculated as 8.391 × 10 − 2 0 cm 2 , with the yellow emission fluorescence branching ratio β reaching 68.6%. These findings confirm that Dy 3 + ‐doped YPO 4 GC is a highly promising high‐performance solid‐state laser material for the yellow spectral band, applicable to fabricating and developing solid‐state lasers.
