Localized Residual Baryonic Features and Acceleration Response in Disk Galaxies

We present a feature-centered test of localized baryon–acceleration correspondence in disk galaxies using detrended radial profiles from the SPARC sample. For each galaxy, we fit monotonic baselines to log10(Σbar) and log10(gobs), define residual baryonic and acceleration profiles relative to those baselines, identify localized positive residual baryonic features, and measure the residual acceleration response around each feature. To isolate local structure rather than broad radial trends, we compare each feature-centered response with radius-matched controls drawn from nearby radii within the same galaxy. Across the full detected-feature sample, localized positive baryonic residual features are associated with a modest positive residual acceleration excess near the feature center. The clearest result emerges after stratifying the detected features by galactocentric radius using a non-tuned median split: the inner-feature subset shows positive mean excess at 0.0, +0.5, and +1.0 kpc in galaxy-bootstrap tests, whereas the outer-feature subset shows no comparable positive response. Stacked feature-centered profiles independently confirm a localized inner-galaxy residual acceleration response and a clear inner-minus-outer excess contrast. Secondary tests indicate that the inner-feature response is asymmetric in magnitude and that stronger inner baryonic residual features are associated with a modestly stronger central residual acceleration excess. These results identify a localized, radius-dependent baryon–acceleration correspondence in detrended galaxy structure. They provide an empirical constraint on models of galaxy-scale gravitational phenomenology by showing that localized inner-galaxy baryonic residual structure is accompanied by localized residual acceleration response beyond what is expected from nearby radii alone.
