Clozapine shows benefit in first‐episode psychosis after one failed trial
Individuals with first‐episode psychosis who were switched to clozapine after a failed antipsychotic trial saw greater improvement than those receiving olanzapine or amisulpride, a sequential trial has found. The results offer some evidence to counteract the common recommendation to initiate clozapine only after at least two failed antipsychotic trials. Study results were published online March 11, 2026 in JAMA Psychiatry .
