High percentage (30%) magnesium doped lanthanum copper titanate and its impedance, modulus and non -linear I-V responses

To solve the current difficulties of environmental problems, one of the major challenges in the ceramic industries is to make bulk electro-ceramic material with low- cost and eco-friendly synthetic routes. To solve this issue, we synthesized one of the high percentage Mg doped electro-ceramic materials, La 2/3 Cu 2.70 Mg 0.30 Ti 4 O 12 (Mg-LCTO), which has a similar structure to CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 (CCTO), by wet-chemical approach, with abundantly and low-cost Ti-source material. When compared to previously published methods, the strategy employed to produce Mg-LCTO is less expensive in terms of raw material costs and energy consumption. Mg-LCTO electro-ceramic was synthesized at 1323 K for 12 h, and was characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. However, their dielectric behavior is evaluated using impedance analyzer. The improved relative permittivity and low tan δ of Mg-LCTO was detected when compared to that of LCTO ceramic. The estimation of activation energy for Mg-LCTO was 0.59 eV, which is higher value than that of LCTO (0.47 eV). In conclusion, the approach used in this study is an ecologically and eco-friendly alternative way for manufacturing Mg-LCTO ceramics at the industrial level.
