Experimental results of a High-Temperature-ATES field test: Induced convection, heat conduction and groundwater flow as efficiency-reducing processes
• High-Temperature ATES field test performed at TESTUM field test site. • Cyclic injection of 80 °C water for up to bi-weekly cycles. • Heat recovery and transport rates quantified using extensive monitoring network. • Heat loss to confining units and downstream groundwater found to be significant. • Heat recovery strongly influenced by induced thermal convection.
