A Trimetallic MWCNT@Ni‐Co‐Zn/Dobdc Nanohybrid Metal Organic Framework for Visible Light Photocatalysis and Antioxidant Applications

ABSTRACT A Novel spindle‐shaped tri‐metallic MWCNT‐doped Ni‐Co‐Zn/dobdc (MWCNT@Ni‐Co‐Zn/dobdc) metal organic framework was successfully synthesized and structurally characterized using FTIR, FE‐SEM with EDX and elemental mapping, P‐XRD, and XPS spectroscopy. The carboxylate group effectively coordinates with the Ni, Co, and Zn. Meanwhile, optical research revealed strong visible‐light absorption with a band gap of 2.71 eV. To measure photocatalytic activity, Congo red dye degradation was carried out under visible light‐assisted photo‐Fenton‐like conditions. In the presence of H 2 O 2 , the catalyst performed admirably, achieving virtually complete degradation (96.20%) in 30 min with kinetics that fit a pseudo‐first‐order model. The high degradation efficiency was due to Ni 2+ / Ni 3+ and Co 2+ /Co 3+ redox cycling, and efficient radical generation (•OH, O 2 • − ). zn 2+ is a closed‐shell, redox‐inactive cation that confirms high Lewis acidity and stabilizes the Framework. The DPPH assay revealed that the 93.29 % inhibition at 400 µg/ml concentration, with an EC50 of 146.48 µg/mL, surpasses that of many naturally occurring antioxidant materials.
