Structural Hints for the Navier-Stokes Existence and Smoothness Problem from Coherence Cosmology
This document is not a proof of the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem. It does not prove that smooth solutions to the three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations exist globally, nor does it construct a counterexample exhibiting finite-time singularities. It does not satisfy the mathematical standards required by the Clay Mathematics Institute’s Millennium Prize Problem. What this document offers is narrower and more modest: a set of conceptual notes identifying structural parallels between Coherence Cosmology (SR103EN/SR104EN) and the conceptual core of the Navier-Stokes existence and smoothness problem. The connections proposed here are ontological, not mathematical. They are intended as a conceptual bridge toward future mathematical formalization. The three potential points of contact are: 1. Singularity as coherence breakdown: a finite-time singularity — a point at which velocity becomes infinite — corresponds structurally to a state in which the local section can no longer form a coherent antichain. The local structure loses its coherence and exits U_total. Singularity is not merely a mathematical pathology; it is an ontological event. 2. Global smoothness as coherence preservation: Theorem 8 of SR103EN Formalization states that coherence is preserved under the inter-section order — coherent sections always transition to coherent sections. If smooth initial conditions correspond to coherent initial sections, then global smoothness is the structural default of coherent existence, not a special achievement requiring external enforcement. 3. Turbulence as complex coherent interference: turbulence is not a breakdown of coherence. It is a maximally complex form of coherent existence — every local fluid element’s section is determined by interference relations with structures at all scales simultaneously (Definition 20). The apparent chaos of turbulence is the structural expression of maximum-complexity coherent interference. The key conceptual question raised by this framework: does the physical evolution of the Navier-Stokes equations respect the coherence-preservation structure of U_total? If yes, global smoothness follows structurally. If no, singularity formation is structurally possible. This document addresses Stage 1 (conceptual correspondence) only. Stages 2-4 — formal mapping between antichain condition and Sobolev regularity, connection to PDE energy estimates, and proof or counterexample — are open problems requiring collaboration with mathematicians specializing in partial differential equations and harmonic analysis.
