Towards A Sustainable Future: Green Business Challenges And Prospect In Bangladesh

This research explores the current dynamics of green business integration in Bangladesh, highlighted as a vital strategy for industrial sustainability across the Ready-Made Garment (RMG), renewable energy, and eco-friendly manufacturing sectors. While Bangladesh presents a massive landscape for sustainable growth, several foundational roadblocks hamper its progress. Local enterprises face high upfront capital requirements, where establishing green structures incurs significantly higher initial costs compared to conventional factories. This financial burden is compounded by restricted access to long-term green financing and a lack of specialized technical expertise within the workforce. Additionally, inconsistent enforcement of existing environmental regulations often slows down corporate green transitions. Despite these challenges, the prospective outlook remains immensely promising. Adopting certified green practices and utilizing eco-friendly operations grant Bangladeshi businesses a massive competitive advantage in global export markets. High growth potential exists in expanding solar energy solutions, circular waste management networks, and organic agriculture. Supported by Bangladesh Bank’s progressive green banking policies, a synchronized collaboration between financial institutions, private enterprises, and regulatory bodies can successfully cultivate a profitable and climate-resilient economy in Bangladesh.
