A Life Without Lemons: A Case of Severe Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Secondary to Vitamin C Deficiency in a Child With Autism Spectrum Disorder
Learning Points Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare, serious, and reversible complication of vitamin C deficiency in children. Vitamin C deficiency, amongst other micronutrient deficiencies, is common in children with ASD due to restrictive dietary intake. In cases of PAH of unknown cause in paediatric patients, serum vitamin C testing should be considered, with vitamin C supplementation as indicated.
