FACTORS AFFECTING COMPUTERIZED MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (CMMS) ON OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION IN NIGERIA
This study examines the factors influencing the adoption and implementation of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) in oil and gas production, using Ascon Oil and Gas, Lagos State, as a case study. Specifically, the study investigates the determinants of CMMS adoption in Lagos State. To achieve the objectives, two research questions were raised, and two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Data were collected through the distribution of one hundred and seventy-six (176) questionnaires to staff of Ascon Oil and Gas, out of which one hundred (100) valid responses were retrieved. The collected data were analyzed using regression analysis and t-test statistical techniques, with the aid of SPSS version 20, to test the null hypotheses and evaluate the factors affecting CMMS in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Findings revealed no direct relationship between factors associated with the acquisition of a computerized maintenance management system and oil and gas production in Nigeria. However, the study established a direct and significant relationship between the barriers to implementing CMMS and oil and gas production. Based on these findings, the study recommends that oil and gas production firms, as well as public works organizations, should prioritize the provision and effective implementation of computerized maintenance management systems to enhance operational efficiency and productivity
