A novel topical agent for effective periorbital skin regeneration: Real-world case studies

JOURNAL/rmrep/04.03/02273995-990000000-00040/figure1/v/2026-05-22T144213Z/r/image-tiff Objectives: The periorbital region has thin skin and is prone to early structural aging, creating a need for topical approaches that support repair in addition to protection. This study aimed to characterize periorbital aging feature changes associated with topical nanodiamond–zinc oxide (ND-ZnO) preparations using standardized imaging and a structured case-series design. Methods: Data were collected at study sites in New Jersey, USA (bioadaptive stress repair) and Paterna, Valencia, Spain (precision eye lift) during the respective study periods to evaluate the effects of an ND-ZnO serum (4 weeks) and an ND-ZnO periocular formulation (6 weeks) on signs of periorbital aging. Cases were first screened using predefined evaluability criteria (completion of all visits, complete longitudinal image sets, and image quality adequate for within-subject comparison), and then four illustrative cases per preparation were selected to represent a range of baseline phenotypes (crow’s feet, periorbital wrinkles, infraorbital dark circles, under-eye puffiness) and longitudinal trajectories. In the periocular study, an additional four evaluable cases underwent quantitative multimodal imaging (high-resolution macroscopic photography and 3D surface topography) to extract wrinkle and volume metrics under fixed acquisition and analysis settings. Participant experience in the periorbital study was evaluated using a 19-item satisfaction questionnaire. Results: In the quantitative subset, imaging showed reductions in wrinkle-associated metrics (maximum observed reduction 59%) and under-eye puffiness volume (maximum observed reduction 33%), with concordant improvements in texture and smoothness. In the periocular-study cohort, over 90% of participants reported subjective improvement and the regimen was well-tolerated. Conclusion: Topical ND-ZnO preparations demonstrate measurable periorbital improvements in participants with signs of periorbital aging.
