Implant-assisted Cast Partial Dentures – Bridging the Gap between Removable and Fixed Prosthodontics
Abstract Distal extension removable partial dentures are widely used for Kennedy Class I and II cases but are often associated with bone resorption, periodontal issues, poor retention, and patient dissatisfaction. Implant-assisted cast partial dentures (IACPDs) address these shortcomings by the strategic integration of implants with cast partial dentures providing stability, function, and esthetics while reducing stress on abutments and mucosa. Clinical outcomes are influenced by implant position, dimensions, and attachment systems and opposing occlusion. Current literature, however, lacks strong evidence favoring this integrated treatment modality. Therefore, this clinical case series presents five different full mouth rehabilitation cases using IACPD’s aiming to enhance prosthesis stability and quality of life.
