Climate change impacts on soil organic carbon fractions, carbon-cycle functional genes, and soil microbiomes in tobacco fields
• High temperature and precipitation can increase crop yield, but cannot improve crop quality. • Climate change can alter soil fertility and affect soil carbon composition. • Climate change reduces the abundance of soil carbon cycling genes. • Climate change affects the relative abundance of soil functional microorganisms, which in turn affects soil carbon cycling.
