Aripiprazole-Induced Gingival Hypertrophy in a Patient with Schizophrenia
Abstract This article presents the case of a 40-year-old female who presented with schizophrenia, with clinical features displaying auditory hallucinations, disorganized behavior, and heightened suspiciousness. The patient was prescribed the tablet aripiprazole and was lost to follow-up for a year. The patient revisited the hospital after 1 year with drug-induced gingiva hypertrophy, which is an uncommon observation in a patient on aripiprazole. This case underscores the importance of monitoring side effects in patients receiving antipsychotic medications and highlights a rare association with aripiprazole.
