Arduino-Based Smart Irrigation System for Automated Agricultural Water Control

Efficient water management is essential in modern agriculture, especially in areas where water resources are limited and irrigation serves as the primary means of crop watering. This study presents the design and implementation of a smart irrigation system that automates water supply based on real-time soil moisture and environmental conditions. The developed system utilizes an Arduino Uno microcontroller, soil moisture sensor, DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor, relay module, DC water pump, and power supply unit. The microcontroller continuously monitors soil moisture and atmospheric conditions and automatically activates the irrigation system when the moisture level falls below a predefined threshold. Water supply is halted once the required moisture level is achieved. The proposed system minimizes water wastage, reduces human labor, and improves irrigation efficiency. The system provides a cost-effective and reliable solution for sustainable agricultural practices and smart farming applications.
