Experimental Study for the Optimization of Side-Hull Location for Resistance of a Trimaran
_ International research and development work have begun to focus on a trimaran ship design; however, very little systematic experimental data are available to aid the designer. The study presents a systematic calm water resistance experimental study on a practical trimaran hull form. The objectives of the study are to better understand the trimaran resistance characteristics and to create a dataset convenient for designers to optimize the side-hull location for minimum resistance of similar trimaran designs. Keywords trimaran design; model test; optimization; resistance; side-hull
