Functional characterization and regulation of 2,3-oxidosqualene cyclase genes involved in triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis in Camellia oleifera
• Five CoOSC genes of Camellia oleifera were functionally characterized. • Residue #270 is essential for catalytic activity of plant OSCs. • CoERF-1 and CobHLH-2 regulate triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis.
