INTEGRATING FORM-FOCUSED AND MEANING-FOCUSED GRAMMAR INSTRUCTION IN IELTS PREPARATION CLASSES: A CLASSROOM-BASED PERSPECTIVE
Grammar instruction remains one of the most discussed areas in English language teaching, particularly in courses designed for examination preparation. In many IELTS classrooms, grammar is often taught through rule memorization and isolated exercises, which may improve grammatical knowledge but not always communicative performance. This article discusses the integration of form-focused and meaning-focused instruction in IELTS preparation classes and explores how grammar teaching can move from mechanical practice toward communicative use. The discussion highlights learner needs, instructional balance, and classroom applications that support both grammatical accuracy and language use.
