Optimizing Dementia Registry for Precision Care and Health‐Policy Integration: Indonesian Context

ABSTRACT As Indonesia faces a rapid increase in dementia prevalence—estimated up to 20%–30% in recent population‐based studies—systematic underdiagnosis and fragmented data systems pose significant challenges to timely care and policy development. This paper presents a comprehensive framework for developing a national dementia registry as a strategic response to these gaps. Drawing from global best practices and contextualized to Indonesia's decentralized health system, digital transformation agenda, and cultural diversity, we propose a phased approach to registry implementation. Key pillars include integration with the SatuSehat platform, standardized cognitive assessments, ethical data governance, and alignment with universal health coverage goals. The registry is envisioned to support clinical decision‐making, enable precision public health through big data analytics, facilitate longitudinal research, and guide national dementia policy. Stakeholder engagement—spanning health, academic, civil society, and technology sectors—is critical for sustainability. Ultimately, a well‐designed, inclusive, and interoperable registry offers a foundational step toward equitable, person‐centered dementia care in Indonesia.
