UniVoteChain: A Blockchain-Based University Voting Application for Secure and Transparent Elections
UniVoteChain is a decentralized university voting platform designed to improve the security, transparency, and reliability of academic elections through blockchain technology. Conventional university voting methods often depend on centralized systems that are vulnerable to vote tampering, duplicate voting, delayed result processing, and lack of transparency. The proposed system overcomes these limitations by implementing a blockchain-driven election mechanism that ensures immutable vote recording and secure transaction validation. The application interface was developed using Next.js to provide a responsive and efficient user experience, while deployment was managed through the Vercel cloud platform for seamless accessibility and scalability. Firebase services were integrated for user authentication and management of non-sensitive election information such as candidate details and election schedules. Ethereum blockchain technology was utilized as the core decentralized infrastructure for storing voting transactions securely. Smart contracts developed in Solidity were used to automate election procedures including voter verification, vote submission, duplicate vote prevention, and result calculation. MetaMask wallet integration enabled secure communication between users and the blockchain network during election participation. The proposed system was evaluated under multiple voting scenarios to analyze authentication reliability, transaction consistency, and duplicate vote detection efficiency. Experimental observations indicated that the blockchain-based approach enhanced election transparency, improved vote integrity, and reduced the possibility of unauthorized voting activities when compared with traditional university voting systems.
