Incidence of Chronic Postsurgical Pain After Cesarean Delivery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Anaesthesia . 2025 Jul;80(7):834–845. doi: 10.1111/anae.16596. Chronic pain following cesarean delivery (CD) is a significant postoperative complication that can affect mothers and their ability to take care of their children. With growing attention in this area, more primary research has been conducted to better understand how often this type of pain occurs and how severe it is. This review aimed to evaluate existing evidence to determine the prevalence and features of chronic post-surgical pain (CPSP) after CD, and whether these patterns have shifted over time.
