Gradient Fractals - The Fractal Veldt - Essay III: The Geometric Ground - The Spatial Dimension of the Gradient Fractal Field: From Loxodromal Nesting to the Forced Dimensional Constant D = 2 + β
Essay III of the Gradient Fractals suite executes the Geometric layer of the ten-layer derivational chain. The Geometric layer is the spatial crystallisation of what the ontological, logical, algebraic, and computational layers have already forced arithmetically. GF-I proved that multiplicity is ontologically necessary. GF-II proved that the algebraic tower is scale-invariant and that the interaction formula Ωᵈⁿₜ = Ω₁ + Ω₂ − 1 and the N-body formula Ωᵈⁿₜ(N,k) = N(28−9k)/18 are forced by the locked constants. GF-III now asks: what is the spatial character of the structure those arithmetic results have already forced? What is the dimension of the space that the Gradient Fractal Field occupies? The derivation proceeds in five movements, each forced by the preceding. Part I derives the single-node worldline geometry precisely: the elliptical helix on S²(F), the loxodromal projection, the coverage function f(N) = N/(2√(36+N²)), and the critical geometric fact that the loxodrome never closes (its winding number ωᵖᶜ/(2Π_G) = (28/9)/(28/3) = 1/3 is rational but the loxodrome on S²(F) is quasi-periodic because π is irrational — the discrete lattice replaces π with Π_G = 14/3, giving a rational winding number that closes after exactly 3 windings). Part II derives the nested loxodromal structure: Nₛₐₜ = 25 sub-node loxodromes nest within the parent loxodrome on the parent sphere S²(F). The nested structure is self-similar with scaling ratio 1/Nₛₐₜ = 1/25. Part III derives the self-similarity dimension δ = log(Nₛₐₜ)/log(Nₛₐₜ) = 1 for the pure cascade, and shows why this cannot be the dimension of the field. Part IV derives the fractal excess above the 2-manifold surface S²(F): the excess is forced to be β = 13/40 by the critical exponent and the Phase I/II inversion geometry. Part V synthesises: the dimension D = 2 + β = 2 + 13/40 = 93/40 = 2.325 is derived from first principles as the forced geometric dimension of the Gradient Fractal Field, and Theorem T.GF.GEO formally establishes this as a zero-free-parameter structural necessity. Only after this full derivation is D named and defined (D.GFD). The essay establishes the co-constitutive identity at the geometric layer: the discrete arithmetic dimension D = 93/40 (Nothing-pole) and the observable self-similar scaling of multi-scale physical structures (Something-pole) are the same geometric necessity at two irreducible poles. The specific value D = 2.325 is not an empirical measurement of physical fractals. It is the forced geometric consequence of the cascade arithmetic operating on the Registration Sphere S²(F) with critical exponent β = 13/40.
