Beyond Convergence: W* = e⁻¹ as a Universal Structural Threshold for Complex System Coherence — A Multi-Domain Empirical Assessment
The LESE (Local Entropic Stability Engine) framework proposes that structural coherence of any complex system can be quantified through W_min, with a universal critical threshold W* = e⁻¹ ≈ 0.36788 — analytically derived, not calibrated — separating stable (W_min > W*) from fragile (W_min < W*) systems. This threshold is structurally consistent with empirical fragility boundaries across nuclear safety, oncology, electricity grids, Earth system tipping elements, cognitive decision-making, and medieval manuscript analysis — without parameter adjustment between domains. The central contribution is the Minimum Coherence Principle: complex systems do not require total internal convergence to remain functional. They require W_min > W*.
