Collaborative Teaching Approaches and Instructional Effectiveness in Teaching Early Childhood Education

The study aimed to determine the extent of collaborative teaching approaches and the level of instructional effectiveness in early childhood education in public elementary schools in Talomo East District. Specifically, it examined how collaboration among teachers influences their instructional practices and effectiveness in delivering quality education to learners. This study employed a non-experimental quantitative research design using a descriptive-correlational method. A validated questionnaire was used as the primary data-gathering instrument, and universal sampling was applied due to the limited number of teachers in the research locale. A total of 120 public elementary school teachers participated in the study. The data were analyzed using mean, Pearson's r correlation, and regression analysis to determine the extent of variables, their relationships, and significant influences. The findings revealed that collaborative teaching approaches were practiced to an extensive degree among teachers, indicating active engagement in shared planning, instructional support, and collaborative assessment. Similarly, instructional effectiveness in early childhood education was also found to be extensive, reflecting strong teaching performance and effective classroom practices. Moreover, the results showed a significant positive relationship between collaborative teaching approaches and instructional effectiveness, suggesting that increased collaboration leads to improved instructional outcomes. Regression analysis further revealed that lesson planning, instructional delivery, and assessment practices significantly influence instructional effectiveness. Based on the findings, it is recommended that schools allocate dedicated time for co-planning and co-assessment activities and promote mentorship among teachers to strengthen collaboration. Teachers are encouraged to enhance their assessment practices through joint development of evaluation tools and to improve instructional delivery by sharing strategies and designing engaging, age-appropriate lessons that support learners' development.
