Follow-up compliance post-eyelid laceration evaluation at the emergency department: a retrospective analysis of predicting factors
PURPOSE: To assess follow-up compliance in the ophthalmology office after eyelid laceration (EL) evaluation at the emergency department (ED) and identify predictors of loss to follow-up (LTFU). METHODS: A retrospective chart review of patients with EL at a level 1 trauma ED was conducted. Adult patients with concurrent ocular injuries were excluded. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses determined whether patients' demographics and factors predicted LTFU at the ophthalmology office. RESULTS: = .014) significantly predicted LTFU. CONCLUSIONS: A pronounced LTFU rate was associated with younger age and less severe injuries. These insights highlight the necessity for targeted interventions to enhance follow-up compliance.
