Monitoring and assessment for obstructive sleep apnea
Abstract Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a common chronic sleep‐disordered breathing disease characterized by recurrent upper airway collapse during sleep, which seriously endangers human health and quality of life. However, current research on sleep respiratory health monitoring focuses on the exploration and application of various detection indicators and technologies, and therefore it lacks a systematic summary and integration of different types of monitoring indicators. It is essential to conduct a comprehensive review focusing on the indicators of sleep respiratory monitoring. This review classifies the OSA monitoring indicators into three major indicator types: physical indicators, biochemical indicators, and electrophysiological indicators. Each chapter elaborates in detail on the mechanism, classification of these indicators as well as the corresponding application examples, clarifying the value of various indicators in OSA monitoring and providing effective reference for clinical practice and subsequent research. This review outlines the emerging detection indicators and sensor‐based monitoring mechanisms that will enable future multimodal, intelligent, and clinically actionable systems for sleep apnea assessment.
