Effect of Blowing Agent Content on the Structure and Properties of Foamed <scp>PUF</scp> / <scp>ABS</scp> Composites

ABSTRACT This study prepared foamed PUF/ABS composites by filling isocyanate‐based polyurethane foam (PUF) into 3D‐printed ABS lattice skeletons. The study systematically investigates the effects of blowing agent (H 2 O) content on PUF cell structure and the sound absorption and compressive performance of the composites. It indicates that blowing agent content significantly influences cell diameter distribution and open‐cell ratio. When the foaming agent content is 3 wt%, the open‐cell ratio of the composites reaches 60%, and the porosity is 88.4%. The foaming quality is relatively ideal. The average sound absorption coefficients of the composites in the 800–3000 Hz frequency band are 0.37, which is 146% higher than that of the ABS skeleton material. It can be used as an acoustic absorption material. The compressive strength of the composites is 1.32 MPa, which is 24.5% higher than that of the skeleton material. Moreover, the strength retention rate after failure has increased by 18%, which provides a new strategy for the development of engineering noise reduction materials.
