Diffracting the Copenhagen Interpretation - Toward Non-Local Collaborative Art Practices
Diffracting the Copenhagen Interpretation: Toward Non-Local Collaborative Art Practices explores the resonances of concepts from quantum theory within transdisciplinary practice-based artistic research. Drawing particularly on Niels Bohr’s philosophy of physics, the project examines how notions such as entanglement, non-locality, uncertainty, indeterminacy, complementarity and inseparability might operate as generative conditions for collaborative artistic processes. The research asks: How can concepts emerging from quantum physics be translated, embedded and embodied as tools for artistic practice? And how might transdisciplinary artistic methodologies unfold across distance?Developed by a transnational artistic research ensemble situated across Copenhagen, São Paulo and Malmö, the project proposes non-local walking as an experimental approach to collaboration across geographical distance. Through shared protocols, score-based actions and multimodal documentation, the research explores how artistic processes may unfold simultaneously across transnational urban environments while reducing physical displacement. The project further approaches non-local walking as a boundary-crossing diffractive methodology for engaging with the urban fabrics we inhabit: walking together-apart, cultivating relational and critical modes of consciousness and sensing that invite unexpected outcomes. keywords: Diffractive methodology, Quantum theory, collaboration, Participatory process, transdiciplinarity, non-locality, entanglement, collaborative processes, diffractive listening, diffractive writing, participatory realism, Quantum physics, walking, non-local walking, re-turning, retrocausality, Assemblage, resonance, anarchive, Arrangement, cartography, Collecting, Composing, Reconfiguring, Complementarity, Cutting Together-Apart, Diffraction, Experiment, Frottage, Indeterminacy, Inseparability, Listening, Multidirectionality, Meandering, Phenomenon, Polyphony, Proprioception, Repetition, Superposition, Transposition, Transcribing, Translation, Uncertainty, Mobile, anarchival practices, configuring, Diffracting
