ZnIn 2 S 4 ‐Based Photocatalysts for Diverse Solar‐Driven Hydrogen Production Systems

As a promising photocatalyst, zinc indium sulfide (ZnIn 2 S 4 ) has attracted extensive attention and has become a hot issue due to its appropriate band gap, fast generation rate of photogenerated carriers. Herein, new research findings of ZnIn 2 S 4 ‐based photocatalysts are extensively summarized, focusing on their applications in diverse solar‐driven hydrogen production systems. This review systematically provides an overview on hydrogen production behavior and reaction mechanisms of ZnIn 2 S 4 ‐based photocatalysts in diverse photocatalytic hydrogen production systems including hydrogen production system with hole scavenger, plastic degradation, biomass high‐value‐added conversion and overall water splitting. It focuses on the effects of various structural tailoring strategies such as vacancy engineering, metal doping, precise control of morphology and construction of heterojunction on photogenerated carrier separation, interfacial charge transfer, and surface reaction kinetics. Meanwhile, it compares the activity, stability, and practical application potential of ZnIn 2 S 4 ‐based photocatalysts in diverse hydrogen production systems. This review provides an outlook on the development directions and application prospects of such catalysts in efficient and stable hydrogen production systems, aiming at offering a systematic guidance for the rational design of ZnIn 2 S 4 ‐based photocatalysts and their practical applications.
