Integrating Lean Construction and Green Supply Chain Management: A Conceptual Model

The construction industry faces significant challenges related to material waste, inefficient resource utilization, and environmental impacts. Lean Construction and Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) are recognized as important approaches for improving operational efficiency and environmental sustainability in construction projects. However, previous studies have generally examined these approaches separately. Therefore, this study aims to develop a conceptual framework integrating Lean Construction and GSCM to support sustainable construction performance. This study employed a qualitative conceptual approach through a systematic literature review of recent studies related to lean construction, green supply chain management, and sustainable construction. The findings indicate that the integration of lean principles and green supply chain practices can improve process efficiency, reduce waste, optimize resource utilization, and enhance environmental performance simultaneously. The proposed framework contributes theoretically by providing an integrated lean-green conceptual model for sustainable construction management. Future studies are recommended to empirically validate the proposed framework using quantitative approaches.
