Nickel/Photoredox-Catalyzed Benzylation of Aryl Bromides Via Double Decarboxylation of Malonic Acid Derivatives
) bond formation under mild conditions without preformed organometallic reagents. Upon photoirradiation, these precursors generate benzyl radicals via double decarboxylation, selectively reacting with electron-rich aryl bromides. Electron-deficient aryl bromides yield hydroxylated products. Mechanistic studies support a radical pathway. This strategy offers a practical, operationally simple approach for aryl halide benzylation under dual photoredox/nickel catalysis.
