Chronon Ontology: Time as the Primary Substrate of Physical Reality
A monistic ontological model is proposed in which time is treated not as a parameter of physical processes but as the primary substrate of reality itself. Within this framework, reality is stratified into a limiting atemporal regime of stability, a relational spatial level, and a fundamental temporally dynamic level of becoming. The latter is argued to be ontologically primary, since space, matter, energy, and gravitation are reducible to stable configurations of temporal dynamics. The paper introduces the concept of the chronon not as a discrete quantum of time in the conventional sense, but as an ontological knot of temporal coherence responsible for the persistence of physical structure. Gravitation is reinterpreted as a gradient of temporal density rather than as a force mediated by a particle such as the graviton. Observation is described as an internally self-referential stabilization of temporal processes within the same temporal substrate that constitutes the observer. A hierarchical ontology of physical entities is developed in which all observable structures emerge as stabilized temporal formations, while the chronon occupies the highest ontological rank as the generative unit of coherence. The model further proposes that physical law should be understood not as an external regulator imposed upon matter, but as a stability regime of temporal becoming itself. The proposed framework eliminates the classical separation between ontology and epistemology by interpreting scientific knowledge as a secondary stabilization of the same temporal structures it describes. The paper thereby advances a strict form of temporal ontological monism and argues for a transition from substance-based metaphysics toward a temporally grounded interpretation of physical reality.
