Interview with Adam Jaworski: Enjoying the Fluidity

ABSTRACT Adam Jaworski's contributions to sociolinguistics are wide‐ranging and enduring. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he has shown how language, power and identity intersect in public and institutional contexts, most notably through his influential work on silence, tourism and semiotic landscapes. In this interview, Jaworski reflects on the state of sociolinguistics in the 1990s, his role in the founding of this journal and his cosmopolitan academic journey, including his recent recovery from a stroke. He underscores the importance of intellectual curiosity, innovation and reading beyond disciplinary boundaries.
