Understanding Pathways to Global Citizenship: Examining the Relationship Between Multicultural Ideology and Global Citizenship Identification

= 700) completed online measures of multiculturalism (Wolsko et al., 2006) and the global citizenship model. A structural equation model revealed that multiculturalism significantly predicted both antecedents to global citizenship, global citizenship identification, and the six prosocial outcomes of the model. Indirect effects confirmed that multiculturalism's influence on prosocial outcomes was mediated through the antecedents and global citizenship identification. The results identify multiculturalism as a predictor of the constructs of the global citizenship model (Reysen & Katzarska-Miller, 2013), demonstrating associations consistent with the theoretical framework's proposed relationships.
