Scabies Under Ultraviolet Dermoscope
A 60-year-old female, on chemotherapy, presented with intense pruritus all over the body of 3-month duration. On examination, multiple erythematous-to-hyperpigmented indurated and eczematous papulonodules were distributed over the trunk and all extremities. On dermoscopy, pathognomonic curvilinear white-grey burrows were seen.On ultraviolet-dermoscopy with DermLite DL5, a bright-blue burrow (red arrow) was visualised with the yellow-fluorescent female mite at the advancing edge (yellow arrow) (Ball sign) [1] and a trail of translucent-yellowfluorescent eggs (green arrows) at the receding edge [Figure 1].Ultraviolet light dermoscopy is better and easier to visualise the mites, eggs and burrows in the case of scabies.
