Analytical accuracy of ferrosilicon‐based foundry alloys
With the use of alloys, their analysis is included in the calculation scheme of a melting shop. However, even significant deviations of the alloy composition from the target analysis are hardly noticeable, since the main metallic components dominate the composition, but their analysis is only roughly known. In the case of doubts, the foundry is faced with the question of which deviation from the target value may give rise to suspicion of an insufficient alloy composition. Regarding the specific alloys used for Mg‐treatment and inoculation within an iron foundry, the round‐robin test presented below is intended to provide an indication to help evaluate analyses and control analyses.
