Electrolysis-Promoted Sequence of Oxidation and Cyclization of Propargyl Alcohol and 3-Aminopropanals/Propanones: A One-Pot Construction of Polysubstituted Dihydropyridines
The dihydropyridine scaffold, a pivotal structural motif in organic chemistry, has attracted persistent research interest owing to its ubiquitous presence in natural products and pharmaceutical molecules. In this study, we developed an electrolysis-promoted one-pot cascade for the synthesis of 1,2-dihydropyridine derivatives. This protocol entails the in situ electrocatalytic oxidation of propargyl alcohol to propargyl aldehyde intermediates, followed by sequential condensation and cyclization with aminopropanols/propanones.
