A High Efficiency Direct‐Current Triboelectric Nanogenerator Enabled by Self‐Charging and Discharging Dynamics

ABSTRACT Triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) offers a promising solution to addressing global energy and environmental challenges that afflict contemporary society. However, the impedance mismatch problem severely hinders the efficiency of TENG in providing real‐time power to distributed electronics. Here, we introduce a constant direct current TENG enabled by self‐charging and discharging dynamic behaviors (SD‐TENG) that overcomes this limitation. This device features ultra‐low internal impedance of 400 kΩ, comparable to conventional electronics, by utilizing triboelectric materials with high conductivity to build the low‐resistance charge transfer channel. Notably, by suppressing the charge loss of lock‐in and emission, the optimized SD‐TENG significantly reduces start‐up time of electronic devices from 8.1 s to 0.7 s, achieving an impressive 11.6‐fold improvement without the assistance of additional energy storage or management circuits. Additionally, the device acquires an exceptional energy utilization efficiency of 32.54%, outperforming traditional TENGs based on ternary dielectrics and air discharge by 156.2 and 234.75 times, respectively. This work not only elucidates the underlying mechanisms of charge generation and redistribution but also provides a scalable and reliable power solution for the Internet of Things, advancing practical applications of TENGs.
