Sustainable Design of Palm‐ Inspired Urban Lighting System Using Hybrid Materials and 3D Printing

ABSTRACT This paper presents the design and development of a sustainable, bio‐inspired urban lighting system based on renewable energy sources and eco‐friendly materials. The aesthetic and functional development of the project has been defined in accordance with stylistic requirements rooted in biomimetic and eco‐design principles. The project explores the use of hybrid aluminum–plastic structures to achieve a balance between mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and lightweight construction. Recyclable polymers and renewable energy have been employed to reduce the environmental impact. Additive manufacturing has played a central role in the fabrication process, enabling high geometric freedom and material efficiency. Finite Element Method (FEM) analyses have been carried out to assess the structural stiffness and verify the mechanical integrity of the designed system.
