The Z₇³ Cubic Database: A Perfect-Hash Discrete State Space for Meteorological and Climate Data
We propose the Z₇³ toroidal harmonic lattice — a 7×7×7 grid of 343 nodes — as the foundation of a novel database architecture for atmospheric and climate data. By mapping temperature, relative humidity, and surface pressure to integer coordinates (x,y,z) ∈ {0..6}³, every atmospheric observation becomes a single-integer record pointing to one of 343 pre-defined nodes. The architecture provides: O(1) lookup via a perfect hash on a 343-row master table that fits in L1 CPU cache; 12× storage compression versus classical float encoding; algorithm-free clustering and anomaly detection; weather forecasting as path traversal on a directed graph with at most 117,649 possible edges; and global climate similarity as cosine distance between 343-element frequency vectors.Validated on 30 days of ERA5 reanalysis data for Iași, Romania: real atmospheric trajectories occupy only 13.7% of the theoretical phase space, confirming the existence of preferred climate corridors in Z₇³ coordinates.Artefacts: z73_database_paper.docx · z73_database_demo.html (interactive browser demonstration, no dependencies
